The
Principal of the firm, Tomiko Murk, has a strong foundation in the Derivatives
industry, the most recent being with Royal Bank of Canada's securities
arm, RBC Dominion Securities (RBC DS) (1993 - 2000), as a Vice-President
in the Financial Engineering group, Global Foreign Exchange, for 3 years
(1997-2000), prior to which she was a Senior Financial Engineer in that
group. She has six years trading experience in Exotic Foreign Exchange
Option products in the Financial Engineering group and created the pricing
and risk management programs used for their Exotic Foreign Exchange
options.
Within
the Royal Bank's Risk Management Group, she was Manager, Financial Research,
and Manager, Accounting Policy 1988 to 1993, principally dealing in
model and accounting analysis of Capital Market Products (Interest Rate
Swaps and Options). At the Toronto-Dominion Bank, she was responsible
for analyses of the Market Value and Accounting Value for interest rate
swaps, and for foreign exchange contracts. Her Futures experience was
gained from developing a futures reporting system for Friedberg Mercantile
Group, a Commodity futures dealer in Toronto.
In
addition to Trading and Model building experience, Tomiko has presented
a number of papers through the banks, and through the Canadian Bankers
Association (CBA) to regulatory bodies including the Office of the Superintendent
of Financial Institutions (OSFI) in Canada, Canada Customs and Revenue
Agency (CCRA, formerly Revenue Canada), and the Bank for International
Settlements (BIS) through the International Swap Dealers Association
(ISDA), and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA).
These technical papers relate to tax issues on derivatives, and to Bank
Capital requirement for Interest Rate Swaps and Foreign Exchange Forwards,
and for accounting proposals on derivatives.
Ms.
Murk is a member of the Financial Markets Association of Canada (FMAC)
and of Women in Capital Markets. Her educational background includes
an MBA from the University of Toronto, Master of Science in Information
Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, CMA (Certified Management
Accountant), and FICB (Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers).
